The latest trailer for Persona 5 was revealed earlier today during a giant Persona news stream in Japan. While the new video still leaves us with a lot of speculation we did get a better idea of what to expect from the latest game in the series.
For one, it’s beautiful. The opening shot of a cityscape reflecting in a bay if full of vibrant colors that will definitely bring back memories of Persona 4’s visuals. We’re also shown what looks to be the four main characters, two males, one female, and one cat-like creature that looks like he could be a cousin of P4’s Teddy. The trailer shows some gameplay with scenes from both dungeons and school and certain scenes of the four friends spending time together look like they are straight out of Catherine. While a lot of this trailer seems to show just how much Persona 5 will feel familiar, what may be one of the biggest changes is that it seems the characters turn to superheroes or vigilantes. Who knows what kind of gameplay changes will come of this but we can definitely see in the trailer that Persona 5’s exploration looks much more involved than previous titles. One scene shows a character teleporting behind cover, while another shows him jumping from chandelier to chandelier over enemies. It definitely looks like an improvement and I can’t wait to see more.
Persona 5 is slated for a 2015 release in Japan and still no date on a western release. Oh yeah, and the music is still fantastic.
