If you’ve been following Mortal Kombat X recently, you may have seen some of the ridiculous fatalities, which range from gory to downright disgusting. Of course, that’s to be expected from the Mortal Kombat series … what I didn’t expect was the launch trailer for the game.
Make no mistake: the trailer still includes plenty of gruesome deaths, but it’s all perfectly choreographed to System of a Down’s “Chop Suey.” In the era of super-serious, “here’s what the game is” launch trailers, let’s take a moment to appreciate that this one actually captures the tone of the Mortal Kombat series.
Mortal Kombat X launches on April 14th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The last-gen versions have been delayed. Purchasing the “Kombat Pack” gets you access to extra pop-culture characters like Jason Voorhees and the Predator.
