Who said Mega Man was dead?

Dentsu Entertainment USA announced today they will be partnering with Man of Action Entertainment (Ben 10, Ultimate Spider-Man, Marvel’s Avengers Assemble) to produce a 26-episode animated Mega Man series. The release is planned for sometime in 2017 to coincide with the franchise’s 30th anniversary.

In the press release regarding the series, Man of Action writer, Duncan Rouleau said, “The 1990s Mega Man TV series was cool and different than other series targeted at kids during that time.  It featured great action, but also brought the laughs.  Mega Man is a character that is even more relevant for today’s kids and we are really looking forward to creating something new that still respects the long tradition of the character.”

I’m not too convinced today’s kids even know who Mega Man is or have even played any of the games. The last core Mega Man game released in the U.S. was Mega Man 10 in 2010, a downloadable sequel created to look like the original NES games. That’s a long time in game years. But hey, if this new series gets people excited about the character again, I’m all in.

No art, actors, or music has been shown yet, but we’ll keep you updated if anything new happens with this series.
