Project X Zone, the Japanese developer-mashup strategy game for the 3DS, is getting a sequel, Bandai Namco announced yesterday.
Set to arrive this fall and developed by Nintendo’s Monolith Software, Project X Zone 2 once again brings characters together from Bandai Namco, Capcom, and SEGA, and even narrows some of the characters down to specific entries in their respective series. Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, for instance, come from Resident Evil Revelations, while Leon Kennedy comes from Resident Evil 6.
Other franchises confirmed for Project X Zone 2 include Tekken, Devil May Cry, Yakuza: Dead Souls, and Soul Caliber. Darkstalkers, which was included in the original but has since been put on hold by Capcom, was not mentioned in the trailer. Michael Burns reviewed the original for Invisible Gamer, saying that “it thrives on fan service,” but won’t convert anyone who isn’t interested in the included series.
