Yooka-Laylee, the Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor being developed by former Rare employees, has been officially revealed.
Formerly known as Project Ukulele, the game has been teased by Playtonic Games since the studio began work on the game about three months ago.
Yooka-Laylee follows, fittingly, Yooka the chameleon and Laylee the bat. The Rare pedigree begins with the characters; they were created by character artist Steve Mayles, who designed Banjo, Kazooie, and the revamped Donkey Kong family.
Playtonic Games is promising “sprawling, gorgeous worlds to explore, tons of smartarse characters to meet and inventive moves to learn.” The studio is calling on fans to help “tick those boxes and more” when the game’s Kickstarter campaign launches May 1.
